What We Did Tonight

Imagine walking a mile from your house into a park filled with over 205,000 people. That's what we did tonight. Karen, Jeffrey and I went to Parque de la Paz (Park of the Peace) to attend a Luis Palau Festival (http://www.palau.org). San José, the city we are in, has one million people. Over twenty percent of those people were in the park to hear about Jesus this evening... Wow!

On friday night over 5,300 documented decisions for Christ were collected. Earlier that day, more than 380 children made public decisions for Jesus Christ through the special children's program. I'm looking forward to hearing how God manifested Himself on Saturday.

I've attached some pictures I pasted together that gives you a panoramic view of our perspective. And I've also put a link off to the right of Raza For Christ (http://www.razaforchrist.com) that will enable you to hear some of the sounds we heard.

Update:
More than 401,250 people reached in-person with the Good News
150 - Political Lunch (40 commitments to Christ)
600 - Women's Tea (210 commitments to Christ)
500 - Businessmen's Dinner (180 commitments to Christ)
160,000 - Friday Festival (5,375 commitments to Christ)
35,000 - Children's Festival (3,300 commitments to Christ)
205,000 - Saturday Festival (8,300 commitments to Christ)

The Apple Doesn't Fall...

If you knew our son, you would know that he has a lot of energy. Karen and I both were very energetic children. So, it's probably genetic. We are glad that Jeffrey is the way he is. He brings so much fun and joy into our lives because of his playful disposition. The following is one such example of how Jeffrey "entertains."

Jeffrey's teacher (Shirley) told us that Jeffrey had to sit in "Time Out" yesterday because of his energetic behavior. Shirley was trying to settle the class down for an activity. However, in spite of her efforts Jeffrey went from student to student coughing on them. For some reason the class found this very amusing. Jeffrey would cough on a fellow student, his little friends would laugh, all the while Shirley was trying to regain control. The end result? Jeffrey in the "naughty" chair. Unfortunately, the class still was not cooperating. Imagine if you will: Shirley asking the class if anyone else wanted to sit in Time Out, while Jeffrey rocks back and forth laughing maniacally a single "HA" on each forward lunge. His classmates found this to be very amusing.

The director of the pre-school happened to be in the room at the time. All she could say was "Incredible." She's never seen a student so young orchestrate such a scene. Shirley and the director had all they could do to not laugh.

Imagine, Jeffrey is not even two yet. We're in trouble :)

But, I'll say this for the whole experience: We found out we can utilize the "naughty" chair at home. In the end, Jeffrey really doesn't like "Time Out."

Increíble (Incredible)

During worship yesterday in church, I felt the need to stop and pray. So, while everyone else continued to worship I just sat down and began to pray. I had a bad week spiritually. I felt like my relationship was lacking and needed more attention. So I began praying about it. "Lord, I know that I'm not where I need to be with you in relationship. And Lord I know that I need your help, because in and of myself I can't make things work. I'm dependent upon you for all things. Father, I realize my life needs to be cleaned by you if I expect to be a missionary for you. So, Father, please clean me..." No sooner had I prayed that phrase (mind you, I wasn't praying out loud), when I heard a voice say to me, "Do you speak Spanish." A lady in the congregation had sat down next to me. I responded by telling her I spoke a little, to which she began speaking in English. She said, "The Lord just told me to tell you that He is going to clean your way. And that He has a great mission for you to carry out." Wow! I've never had an experience like that! I thank my God that He knows me and He encourages me when I need it most.

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!" (Psalm 139:13-17).
